Luanda — The chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission, Jean Ping, defended Thursday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, the continuation of a spirit of combat and originality in the organisation with the aim of achieving its objectives.
Speaking at the 17th African Union Head of States and Government Summit, Jean Ping said that the fight of the African countries for its integrity is a long march that started with the Pan African Movement.
According to the official, it is important to remember that all the victories obtained by Africans happened due to Africa coming together and having had a strong conviction about the challenges of the moment.
He noted that the agenda of the African Union Commission included the strengthening of stability and protection of sovereignty of states.
According to him, changes recorded in Tunisia mark the beginning of progress in that country and signal a new consciousness of citizenship and democracy.
The 17th Heads of State and Government Summit of the African Union, whose closure is scheduled for Friday, provides discussions around the theme “Accelerating the training of youth for sustainable development.”
