Two days after he was lumped alongside Randy Abbey and Kofi Manu as “errand boys” who should be rejected by those who would be voting aspiring candidates onto the Executive Committee of the GFA by former management member of B. A. Stars, Takyi-Arhin, the Chief Executive Officer of Wa All Stars, Samuel Oduro-Nyarko has reacted to the unsavoury description, saying, “it’s most unfortunate”.
Oduro Nyarko, who worked for close to two decades as Board Secretary of Division One Club, Okwahu United, who once caused sensation in Ghana soccer with their “Asaase Aban, Yente Yente gyae” motto, which matched their performance on the pitch, said no one should take his credentials and reputation in Ghana football for granted, as did Takyi-Arhin last Monday in an interview with Asempa FM.
In that interview, Takyi-Arhin denigrated the three and described them as people who cannot stand their grounds when the situation demands it. But Oduro Nyarko has rejected that tag, arguing that he has a highly respectable track record in Ghana football, which people like Takyi-Arhin have no right to scornfully look at let alone call him an errand boy.
Takyi-Arhin considers the three men as part of what can aptly be described as a cabal, who would want to promote cronyism at the detriment of Ghana football, hence his call for their rejection during the election of executive committee members.
The mad rush for nomination forms for membership of the executive committee of the GFA is believed to have been driven by the proposed GH ¢10, 000.00 golden handshake for outgoing members of the current committee.
Opinions on this have been divergent, but the GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has himself strongly defended the proposal describing it as a form of investment, which would motivate the prospective recipients to give more than they have given to Ghana football.
