29 June 2011 Khartoum — The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday announced that they reached what it described as a "partial agreement" for the creation of a 20 kilometers demilitarized zone on the North-South borders monitored by civilians with checkpoints manned by Ethiopian peacekeepers. The Sudanese presidential assistant Nafie Ali Nafie made the announcement to reporters upon his return from Addis Ababa where he led the NCP delegation in negotiations with the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) mediated by an African Union (AU) panel headed by former South African president Thabo Mbeki. "We agreed on a buffer zone on the borders between North and South [that is] ten kilometers wide to the south and the north under the control of a civilian group and limited checkpoints [guarded] by Ethiopian troops" Nafie said

Ghanaian communities from two states will play a charity football match on 2 July to raise money to send free educational resources and shoes to needy children back home and Africa.

The match to be played at Odenton, Maryland is being organized by US-based Walk2Learn International.

Community teams Bosingwa FC and Baltimore will play in the maiden charity event.

Founder of Walk2 Learn International Kwame Boakye Gyan says their primary aim for organizing such event is to help lessen the financial burden of needy schools and families.

“Our primary objective is to raise some money to help these kids and schools. At least, a little donation from Walk2Learn will help lessen the huge financial burden of these schools and families.”
