After lengthy deliberations of the National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party on the work and findings of the Ambrose Dery chaired Committee set up to go into the protests arising out of the Okaikoi South Parliamentary Primary of 30th April, 2011, the National Executive Committee has decided to cancel the Parliamentary Primary held in that constituency due to the flawed nature of the vetting process. The National Executive in collaboration with the Regional and Constituency Executive bodies would therefore reopen a fresh process for all interested parties to partake, including the aspirants who contested the April 30th Primary

EDO State government yesterday described as “untrue” the allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) won in the last general elections because of the influence of traditional rulers who were alleged to have forced their subjects to vote against the PDP.

Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Political Matters, Charles Idahosa, while reacting to a statement credited to a chieftain of the PDP in the state, Owere Dickson-Imasogie, that the ACN won due to the influence of the palace of the Oba of Benin, said: “The result of the election was a reward of the rebirth of Edo State by the Oshiomhole-led administration. The massive developments in the three senatorial districts of the state, which the PDP deprived the people for years, won the election for the ACN”.
