Regional Community Women Conference for August

Kampala — The East African Community will in August hold a five -day conference in Kigali, Rwanda to bring together women entrepreneurs from the region in order to share trade experiences.

Speaking at the business diagnostics survey project organised by Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited in Kampala, Ms Margret Zziwa, a member of the East African Legislative Assembly said EAC considers women to have a role in poverty eradication. “The conference that will focus on women will also assess if they are participating in business after the integration,” Ms Zziwa said.

Ms Jennifer Mwijukye, the chairperson said the consultative workshop was held in preparation for the initial implementation of the business diagnostics project. “We are here to identify why women businesses don’t grow and remain Small and Medium Enterprises and micro businesses for long,” Mr Mwijukye said. She added the objective of the business diagnostics project was to find out how UWEAL can help women to grow their businesses.
