Galatasaray are leading the race to sign Chelsea striker Didier Drogba this summer, according to The Mirror.

The Turkish side have had a £7 million plus player deal turned down for the 33-year-old, but they are set to make an improved offer and give Drogba the long-term contract he is looking for worth £5m a year.

The Ivory Coast striker could be interested in a move away from Stamford Bridge because the Blues are refusing to offer his security over his long-term future at the club.

Chelsea are looking to rebuild their attack after the big-money signing of Fernando Torres in January, and with rumours of the club moving for players such as Brazilian starlet Neymar, Barcelona’s David Villa and Porto forward Falcao, the Blues could look to cash in on Drogba.

Marseille and Galatasaray became favourites to sign the striker after Chelsea outlined that they were reluctant to sell the player to any of their Premier League rivals, ending speculation of a move to Tottenham, but the Turkish side are now reportedly favourites to sign him.

Drogba moved from Marseille to London in 2004 in a deal costing the club £24m, and has been an integral part of the team since.
