No shows from the big names marred the fourth national track and field athletics championship trial at Pece stadium at the weekend. However, a new star in Serere’s Thomas Kidega illuminated the tournament when he pulled off a stunner in the 400 metres after clocking 47.7s – the third best time in the country.
Kidega, who beat seasoned stars like UCU’s Kassim Latigo, attributed his brilliant day to hard training. Athletics official Faustino Kiwa believes Kidega has a bright future ahead of him.
