Mogadishu — Mogadishu traditional elders on Tuesday gave further details about meeting they had with the UN special envoy to Somalia and the meeting took place in the Ugandan capital of Kampala.
In an interview with Shabelle Media Network, Ahmed Diriye Ali, the spokesman of Mogadishu’s Hawiye traditional elders said that they discussed with Augustine Mahiga, the UN special representative for Somalia about the most recent Kampala Accord which the president of Somalia and speaker signed to diffuse their internal bickering.
The spokesman said the elders told Mahiga they don’t want to be involved in giving an consultations about the Accord.
He said Somali transitional federal parliament has the sole approval or refusal to the Kampala Accord.
Asked about the upcoming Somali consultative meeting and where it will be held, the elder spelled out there are preparations about the meeting which is currently going on in Nairobi, adding that they told the UN envoy the meeting is snot needed since Puntland and Galamug are part in the government.
