Guinness United are the winners of the Guinness Football Challenge. The group that led the competition from the very start, beat nine other groups to the Shs20 million cash prize.
The group comprising sports journalists and sportsmen from Arua, garnered 98 points during a grand finale at Steak Out bar and restaurant, Kampala.
The quiz revolves around football and it included general knowledge questions, and questions about African players plus the local football.
Mr Patrick Ogua, the group captain said he was sure his team would win.
as always going to win the quiz basing on their passion for the sport and the information that comes with it.
They were too good that actually they led the first runner-ups Kikulu Boys with 32 points. Liverpool United scored 64 points to take third place.
“Football is a language we all speak and understand. A sport we love and hold in high esteem and Guinness brought this challenge to Ugandans in a bid to ignite their passion for the sport and bring them closer to the game,” commented the marketing director Uganda Breweries Ms Marion Muyobo.
To spice up the activity, two of Uganda’s leading ranting masters Rabadaba and Sizzaman were brought in to entertain the crowd which was dominated by sports lovers from around the country.
Rabadaba was the first on stage singing three songs and Sizzaman came on late near the end of the event moving the audience with his hit Angella.
The organisers also announced that the second season of the football challenge will get underway in September this year.
