Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has been given the green light concerning his fitness, after having sustained a double fracture against Manchester City last October.

The 24-year-old had taken to rehabilitation at the French FA’s headquarters in Clairefontaine, and now the player’s English-based representative has admitted that the midfielder has been declared fully fit by the medics there.

“Hatem has been signed off the sick list and has been for a couple of weeks,” Simon Stainrod told The Sunday Sun.

“He’s doing fine – he’s on holiday at the moment but he’s absolutely desperate to get back in among things.

“He’ll be back at Newcastle for the start of pre-season and while nothing is ever certain with anyone, he’ll really benefit from a full pre-season.”

Ben Arfa had made only four competitive appearances for Newcastle before sustaining the injury.
