Manchester City are tracking Werder Bremen and Germany star Marko Marin as they look to build for twin assaults on the Premier League and Champions League, according to The Sun.

Marin has been a star performer in recent seasons for both his club side and the national team, and has reportedly already rejected the overtures of Liverpool and Tottenham.

The 22-year-old is understood to be keen to continue his development in Germany, though it remains to be seen whether the lure of Champions League football at Manchester City will be enough to entice him away from Bremen.

“If the club receives an offer and decides to sell me, that is another situation. Until then I am happy here,” Marin told German newspaper Bild.

Marin has been tipped as a future star and the diminutive midfielder will command a sizeable transfer fee if he does move on this summer.

Werder Bremen endured a miserable campaign in the Bundesliga last season and will not be playing in Europe next term – which could yet persuade Marin that his future would be best served elsewhere.
