Nearly 50 members of the West Darfur Legislative Council, including 10 women, today completed a three-day workshop sponsored by UNAMID on issues of human rights, gender mainstreaming and financial planning.
“UNAMID’s support for this workshop is in recognition of the important constitutional role played by the State Legislative Council in the promotion of the rule of law and democracy in West Darfur,” said the Mission’s Human Rights representative, Mr. Christian Mikala.
He also noted that the participants would incorporate their knowledge into their duties, revising, reforming and carrying out laws to benefit their constituents.
