Gastrodenome 24 June 2011 Nairobi — Anyone who has worked at the southern end of the long Nairobi's Westlands road will agree with me that there is a dire shortage of eateries in the area. The section of the road closer to the former Casino complex is now all tall office blocks, a new one popping up every two months or so yet, up to a few months ago, there wasn't a single establishment to pop in for lunch for the hundreds of office workers there. That is, of course, if one was brave enough to walk across the Museum Hill which is currently under heavy construction.

There will be no less than four derbies when the fifteenth round of action kicks start in the top flight of Gambian football on Friday with three Banjul derbies and an all Bakau affair between Africell football club and Bakau United.

Second place Real de Banjul and newcomers Young Africans will set the ball rolling when they come up against each other at the KG5 mini-stadium in Banjul and with leaders Brikama United not playing Samger until Saturday, the former will have the chance to go top of the standings for the first time this season with victory. Coach Alagie Sarr’s Real de Banjul are currently on the back of two last gasp wins and will be in buoyant mood against the 2009 FA Cup winners who aren’t having a bad campaign in their first ever season of top flight football currently occupying decent mid-table.

The second derby of Friday will see second from bottom Africell football club come face to face with Bakau neighbors Bakau United at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Bakau will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Real but Africell will be fresh after they got the previous weekend off with their supposed opponents Gamtel then on sub-regional duty.

The final derby of Friday will see Banjul based clubs in the shapes of Gambia Armed Forces and Interior football club come face to face in what will also be a security derby between the two sides with Ebrima Manneh’s Interior unbeaten in three second round matches. The final derby of the week will not come though until Saturday when Wallidan and FA Cup winners Gamtel come face to face in an all Banjul affair at the Banjul mini-stadium. The second game of Saturday will come from the Serekunda West mini-stadium where defending champions Gambia Ports Authority takes on Steve Biko who are still looking for their first victory of the campaign.

The final game of the week will see leaders Brikama United take on Samger at the Brikama Box Bar mini-stadium and by the time of kickoff, the West Coast Region side could find themselves trailing Real de Banjul by two points.
