Luanda — The International Olympics Day was established on June 23 1894 and it is celebrated by thousands of people in more than 160 countries.
Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games, Olympic Day is not only a celebration, but an international effort to promote fitness and well-being in addition to Olympic ideals of Fair Play, Perseverance, Respect and Sportsmanship.
To celebrate the event in Angola, an Olympics March was held on Saturday 18 June in Luanda under the slogan “move by health and pay special attention to African children”.
The march was attended by over 1000 people.
The Angolan Olympics Committee (COA) is a member of the International Olympics Committee (IOC).
COA was founded in 1979.
