Kenya Power formerly KPLC will spend 20 billion shillings to install underground cables in Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu in an initiative aimed at discouraging vandalism.
Managing director Joseph Njoroge says they will also invest in dry types of transformers. Dry type transformers do not use oil which is also targeted by vandals. Njoroge is calling on the government to impose heavy penalties against vandals.
