‘Javier Pastore is destined for England or Spain’ – Palermo president concedes Chelsea & Manchester City target is likely to leave

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has said Javier Pastore will likely join an English or Spanish club given the wealthy backers in the two countries.

His latest message comes just 24 hours after claiming no offers had arrived for the 22-year-old Argentine ace.

Pastore has been linked with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Roma, AC Milan, Inter, Chelsea and Manchester City.

But Roma appear to have pulled out of the running after director Walter Sabatini suggested Palermo’s £45 million demands would be hard to meet.

And, with Italian clubs struggling to compete on the transfer market against teams who are used to big spending, Zamparini feels his man will move abroad.

“I spoke with his agent on Wednesday and there are six or seven clubs on him, a couple have backing from the sheikhs,” he said.

“He is destined for a great team and in the end I think he will head to England or Spain.

“Roma are not interested as they cannot spend their entire budget on one player.”

Pastore joined the Sicilian side from Huracan in 2009 and is tied to them until 2015.
