SENIOR Chief Shakumbila of Mumbwa District has said increased farming productivity in his chiefdom has resulted from the good policies the Government has put in place which are favouring agriculture.
Chief Shakumbila said without good policies and goodwill from the Government, it would be impossible for Zambia to record bumper crop harvests.
The traditional leader, who is a farmer and has a herd of cattle, said Zambians should embrace the positive agriculture policies for the country to continue recording good harvests and contribute to the growth of the economy.
He said increased maize production was not by accident but as a result of the progressive policies which the Government had put in place, which were also supportive of emerging farmers.
Chief Shakumbila said he was happy the Government had continued to support small-scale farmers through the farmer input support programme, which had led to increased production of maize and other crops.
He urged his subjects and the nation as a whole to take advantage of such programmes to increase their food production and contribute to the wellbeing of their families.
