Safa Mourns Death of Amaglug-Glug Kit Manager

BuaNews (Tshwane) 22 June 2011 Pretoria — The South African under-23 squad, Amaglug-glug, are back in camp to prepare for their first leg clash of the All Africa Games qualifier against Zimbabwe on Saturday. This comes after they were granted a two-day break following their 5-1 win over Benin in the Olympic Games qualifier last Sunday at the Rand Stadium. Saturday's match against neighbouring Zimbabwe at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton will kick-off at 3pm.

Pretoria — The South African Football Association (Safa) is mourning the untimely death of Linda Zwane, the kit manager of the national under-23 squad, Amaglug-glug.

According to Safa, Zwane died on Monday in a vehicle accident.

Safa acting chief executive officer, Pinky Lehoko, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

“On behalf of the President of Safa, Kirsten Nematandani, the National Executive Committee of Safa and the entire association, we would like offer our heartfelt sympathies for the unexpected death of Linda. He was a dedicated staffer and we will miss him.

“We pray that his family find enough strength and courage to go on during this period of sorrow. We also hope that those who worked with him are comforted,” she said.

Lehoko said funeral arrangements are still being finalised.
