Yenagoa – Four candidates who were travelling on Saturday to write the UTME/JAMB examination died in an accident which occurred on Ahoada-Abua road in Rivers, a witness and the police said. The witness said the  victims were travelling from Yenagoa to their centres in Abua, Rivers.

Mumias’ Muslim Boys stunned arch-rival Musanda from Etenje 2-0 in a hotly contested Mumias District Secondary Schools Term 2B ball games at Bomani grounds. The loss ruined Musanda’s hopes of representing the district at the lower Western Province regional finals set for early next month. Muslim fans started celebrating as early as 10th minute when Adam Juma converted a cross from Bakar Okutoyi. Okutoyi who once featured in the national under-17 team was back on the mark in the 67th minute when he capitalised on Musanda’s defensive blunders to seal their rivals fate. Musanda coach Stephen Makokha blamed their loss to poor fielding, saying most of his experienced boys were sidelined after their opponents claimed they were ineligible as they did not belong to the school. “The boys are our students and I can’t understand why the officials heeded to allegations from the Muslim side,” noted Makokha, who also laid blame on the match officials for being biased. But his Muslim counterpart William Ngare expressed delight, saying Musanda has been his greatest threat.
