Kenya: FKL Chief Promises a Stadium to Laikipians

Football Kenya Limited have pledged to construct a stadium in Laikipia Central district. Speaking during a football match at Matanya Stadium on Sunday, KFL chairman Mohamed Hatimy said he would dispatch a technical officer to assess the field. “I will send our technical officer Patrick Naggi to mark and measure the field to the correct size and we shall also put goal posts and nets as the current ones are not in proper shape,” Hatimy said

The FKL boss faulted the government for not doing enough to support talented youth in the country. He pointed out the money set aside for the Constituency Development Fund was not being utilised for this cause.

Nanyuki Mayor Isaac Mathenge said there was no impact on the ground despite Sh1million being set aside each financial year to promote sports in the constituency. “Where does the money go? Most of the fields in the area are not in good shape and yet there is Sh1million which should be utilised to do this work,” the mayor said.

Hatimy asked those who will participate in the forthcoming national football elections to elect competent national officials. “Let us vote in people who know football and not self seekers who do not understand football rules and regulations, “said the chairman. Hatimy was the chief guest during the finals of the Kiarie Kimani tournament at the Matanya trading centre.
