Fulham boss Martin Jol blames his failures at Tottenham on current Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli.

The newly-appointed manager at Craven Cottage claimed Comolli was responsible for most football matters, but that if he had been able to make his own judgements at the club then chairman Daniel Levy would have treated like a king by Spurs fans.

During Jol’s managerial tenure at White Hart Lane, Comolli was director of football at the club, overseeing transfers of players like Luka Modric, Younes Kaboul and Heurelho Gomes.

Jol’s successor Juande Ramos did not last long at the club and was fired within a year, leading to current manager Harry Redknapp’s appointment.

“He Comolli was responsible. He was responsible for most of the football things,” Jol said.

“I said to Daniel when I came to England, ‘If you leave me, if you let me work for you, they will push you around the streets of London like a king.’

“And they never did, but he knew what I meant, you know?”

Jol will now take on his second team as a Premier League manager in Fulham, after being given the job following Mark Hughes resignation.

Fulham were drawn against NSI Runavik, of the Faroe Islands, in the first round of the Europa League, with the first-leg is to be played June 30.

Post-Spurs, Jol managed Hamburg for a year before guiding Ajax to the Dutch Cup in his first year of charge at the club.

He left the Dutch giants in December 2010 after a mediocre start to the season.

Comolli moved on from Tottenham in October 2008 when he was dismissed at the same time as Ramos and from there he went on to work with Saint-Etienne before being announced as the new director of football at Liverpool in November last year.
