‘Any player in France would love to come to Newcastle’ – agent of Mevlut Erding and Blaise Matuidi hints at potential transfer

The representative for Ligue 1 stars Mevlut Erding and Blaise Matuidi has hinted that his clients could be interested in a potential move to Newcastle United.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has already confirmed his interest in Erding after missing out on the signing of Kevin Gameiro, and is believed to hold an interest in Matuidi.

Having already secured the signatures of Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux from Lille and Rennes respectively, Pardew is keen to add further reinforcements to his squad after the departure of Kevin Nolan to West Ham United.

However, he will face competition from a number of other Premier League sides for the talented duo, with Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly keen, and Italian side Roma thought to be interested.

Despite this, the players’ agent, Pierre Frelot, has suggested that his clients could be open to a move to Tyneside.

“Any player in France would love to come to Newcastle – they are an absolutely fantastic club,” he told the Evening Chronicle.

Frelot also revealed that Newcastle’s French contingent have enthused about the club, and pointed to the success of previous players.

“All the French lads who go to Newcastle are really enthusiastic about the club and the football public in the North East too.

“Newcastle has a place in the hearts  of French football. Great players like Laurent Robert  and David Ginola have played there and enjoyed it and the supporters loved them too.

“Of course any French player would be interested in Newcastle.”
