A 23-year-old student has been arraigned before an Abuja Magistrate Court for allegedly driving recklessly.Kingsley Michael was accused of driving a Toyota Camry car in a reckless manner along Ralph Street from Sheraton Hotel on June 11.

Police prosecutor, Isiaka Raheem, informed the court that when the accused reached Ministry of Finance junction, he did not consider oncoming vehicles from the major road and ran into a jeep driven by one Essien Bassey of Durumi III, Garki.

The prosecutor stated further that the accused person’s action caused serious damages to two vehicles.

When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and sought for bail, while the prosecutor asked for a hearing date.

Magistrate Bashar Attahiru Alkali granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with a surety in like sum, who must be a civil servant or working with any registered corporate company within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to June 30 for hearing.
