Ministry Pays Over 300 Million Nakfa in Benefit Scheme to Martyrs’ Families in Gash-Barka Region

Barentu — Over 297 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to families of martyrs in Gash-Barka region since 2004, the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the region disclosed.

The head of social security in the branch office, Mr. Mengis Tesfai, pointed out that paying stations have been opened in various remote areas so that the benefiting martyrs’ families may have easy access to the payment. Staff members of the branch office also travel to remote areas to pay the benefit scheme to the concerned families of fallen heroes in their respective areas, he added.

Mr. Mengis further explained that in line with the voluntary initiatives taken by benevolent Eritrean citizens in the Diaspora, about 11 million Nakfa has been secured since 2005 which was subsequently paid to pertinent martyrs’ families.

Expressing deep satisfaction with the continued material, financial and moral support being extended by the people and the Government, the martyrs’ families noted the significance of the support in improving their living standard.
