Lens have rejected two offers from two European giants for 18-year-old centre-back Raphael Varane, according to their president.

Varane is already a France Under-21 international and made his debut for Lens at the age of 17 and has barely been left out of the team since.

After making his debut on November 7 of last year, Varane went on to play another 22 times in Ligue 1, but the club are willing to sell him this summer following the club’s relegation to Ligue 2.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in the player, and Varane exclusively told Goal.com that the idea of playing for the Premier League giants would ‘please’ him.

Gervais Martel, the man at the top of the Lens hierarchy, has claimed that the two bids were in excess of £8.9 million (€10m) but both were rejected as the club want to keep him in France, where Paris Saint Germain have also made an offer.

Speaking to RMC Radio, Martel said: “PSG have made an offer, he could very well move to a French club.

I spoke about PSG, but there is a second interested club, but at which he does not have guarantees he will play. The asking price is around €10m £8.9m.

“Some clubs offered more, but I closed the door on them.”
