Dar es Salaam — Kilimanjaro yesterday joined teams that have qualified for the last 16 of the ongoing Copa Coca-Cola Under-17 championship with a 2-0 win over Singida in an exciting match at Nyumbu ground in Kibaha, Coast Region.

The victory means Kilimanjaro now tie on nine points with defending champions Kinondoni in the Group A table, but the former lead on goal difference.

Kinondoni, who are also through to the next stage of the tournament, have four goals against Kilimanjaro’s seven.

Kilimanjaro broke the stalemate after 42 minutes through Farid Mussa and Oscar Joseph hammered the final nail on Singida’s coffin in the 90th minute.In other matches: Rukwa hit Kagera 3-1 in a Group C match at Karume Memorial Stadium. Rukwa scored their goals through Meshak Seleman (44th), Samwel Mambosasa (40th and 80th) minutes, while Kaizer Fortunatus scored for Kagera in the 76th minute.

The day also saw Mbeya beat Mwanza 2-1 in the Group A match. Masoud Yusuph and Herry Mwakatobe scored for the Mbeya team in the fifth and 13th minutes, respectively while Hamis Katanga netted a consolation goal for Mwanza in 23rd minute.
