Fred Pappoe
Ghana Football Association vice-president Fred Pappoe has dismissed claims that there were flaws in Friday’s presidential election.
Incumbent Nyantakyi was elected by popular acclamation at the session that lasted a little over half-an-hour.
Many expected a secret ballot like the Federation of International Football Associations elections where incumbent Joseph Sepp Blatter was the sole candidate.
Pappoe explained that the acclamation is a form of voting and the declaration by the official of the Electoral Commission remains intact since there was no objection from any quarters.
“We discussed it severally at the Executive Committee. Once our Statutes say that no election, why do you want to go the extraordinary line and circumvent the law.”
He added that the fact that the Statutes states that the candidate is returned means there is no casting of ballot.
