Vice Minister Highlights Television’s Role Toward World Progress

    Luanda — The deputy minister of Mass Media, Manuel Miguel de Carvalho, Thursday in Luanda, said that television is an institution capable of contributing toward the development process of any country, where it can play a leading role.

    Manuel Miguel de Carvalho was speaking at the opening session of the lecture on “The dimension and responsibility of television in developing countries.

    According to the deputy minister, the television is more than a body of information that should be active, producing and disseminating the values that each Angolan, regardless of her or his area of operation, must bear with pride.

    The government official added that the television plays a key role in the progress of any society, but, however, this task is successful not just for the power of television images, but it should be seen in a responsible way.

    “In the information society that we live the production and circulation of messages through the TV and not only are able to produce effects that are positive,” he said.

    According to the official, the media that last are those who can add value to society and able to help in the development of countries.

    The lecture was held on the occasion of the 21 anniversary of the Mass Media Ministry, in a different climate, as it is on course the discussion of the legislative package of the media.
