Freetown — Executive officials of Ports Authority FC have urged their players to beat Kissy All Stars today (Friday) in their Africell-sponsored Premier League clash at the National Stadium and stand a good chance of winning the league crown.

The Ports officials believe the team will be in a vantage position to land the title if they can humble the Premier League newcomers and move three points clear of Kamboi Eagles and five more ahead of third place Wusum Stars.

Beating a Kissy All Stars side that has garnered seven points in four matches and has also proved to be strong against bigger opponents in the league could be a tall order for the Water Front Boys, a reason the team’s executive has set aside special match bonuses for the boys should they go on and grab all three points.

“Everyone is aware of the nature of Friday’s matches,” said club president, Abdul Kanasieu. “If we win, we will be three points clear with three more games to go. It is a game we are looking forward to. Last Saturday’s match against Area Best has certainly brought us an awareness of how important our remaining games are. That is why as an executive we have put aside a special match bonus for the players if they win this clash, of which I am sure they will.”

Ports Authority are top in the log on goal difference ahead of Kamboi Eagles and a win will move them three points clear at the top. For ninth place Kissy All Stars, they will be keen to cement their place in the middle of the table and avoid relegation.

Moreover, Mighty Blackpool could record their second win in the league when they host relegation threat Nepean Stars at the National Stadium in Freetown on Saturday, while third place Wusum Stars host 12th place Freetown City FC in Makeni.

On Sunday in Freetown, champions East End Lions – still hoping to defend their title – will take on Old Edwardians. Despite having a game in hand, the Killers need a win to have any chance of defending their title.
