Pretoria — Another hospital senior official has been suspended by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health for alleged acts of corruption and nepotism.
The department announced on Thursday that acting CEO of the Church of Scotland Hospital in uMsinga, TN Dube, has been suspended following internal investigations suggesting that she must be removed before disciplinary processes kick in.
“The department received numerous complaints from staff and members of the public alleging corrupt acts and some around nepotism. The department is finalising its case and will institute a disciplinary hearing in the near future,” said department spokesperson Chris Maxon.
Last week, the provincial Health Department noted that 47 officials have either resigned, been dismissed and/or are appearing in various courts for acts of misconduct relating to corrupt activities in the department.
Twenty officials have been suspended by the department in the month of May 2011 alone to allow officials to finalise the investigations and for the internal disciplinary processes to continue without hindrance.
