Ho — The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Col. (rtd.) Cyril Necku has urged the youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to work hard to ensure victory for the party in the 2012 elections.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was seriously preparing towards the pending elections, so NDC must not sit idle, but attach equal importance to the elections.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony and induction of new executives of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the NDC at the Ho Polytechnic branch over the weekend, the Deputy Regional Minister pointed out that a strategic plan would be put in place to ensure resounding victory for the party.

Col. Necku regretted the attacks being rained on President Mills for failing to imprison top NPP officials. To him, NDC should come out with a strategy that would imprison NPP in opposition for 20 years more, instead of looking at individuals who constitute the party.

The Deputy Regional Minister, who was speaking on the topic -‘Strategic positioning of TEIN for 2012’, stressed the need for the intellectual wing of the party to form keep-fit clubs that would enable them become healthy at all times, particularly during the electioneering time, where they would be deployed to police the ballot boxes.

The National Youth Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Ludwig Hlodze, said President Mills attached much importance to education, because it was the conviction of the government that before a meaningful development could be achieved, issues of education needed to be taken more seriously.

Mr. Hlodze pointed out that the youth, being the future of the nation, ought to be more critical about the activities of the government and the NDC as a party, and encouraged them to commit themselves to party work.

He noted that the founder of the party, Mr. Jerry John Rawlings fell on the youth in the formation of the NDC party, and adviced that they must not stand aloof for the elderly population to destroy it.

“Whether somebody is a founding father or not is not relevant, but what is important is who leads the country to prosperity and the party to victory. If the leaders of the party want to be fighting, we would create boxing rings for them to continue their fight”.

The Volta Regional Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Henry Ametefe noted that politics was all about serving the people, and said the only party that cares for the ordinary Ghanaian was the NDC.

The President of the new eight member executives of the Ho Polytechnic branch of TEIN, Mr. Christian Papa Aworde pledged on behalf of the executives to work hard to promote the activities of the party.
