Freetown — FC Kallon has moved to second place in the Africell-sponsored Sierra Leone Premier League after defeating Freetown City FC 2-0 in the league’s midweek clash at the National Stadium in Freetown.

A controversial goal from defender Bobson Kamara opened the scoring for the 2006 double champions before striker Lansana Kalusha Kamara grabbed the second to take his tally to five goals in the season.

Kalusha Kamara is now joint top scorer with Kamboi Eagles’ Ibrahim K. Fofanah, Donald Wellington of Ports Authority FC and East-End Lions’ Foday Pizzaro Samura – all bagging five goals apiece.

FC Kallon are now equal on 17 points with Ports Authority but ahead on goal difference.

Meanwhile, leaders Kamboi Eagles are eager to bounce back from the defeat they suffered to Wusum Stars and are ready to tame champions East End Lions in Freetown on Saturday. The Eagles’ last outing in Freetown was fruitful as they defeated Old Edwardians. They will be hoping to repeat a similar feat against The Killers and according to their top scorer this season, Ibrahim K. Fofanah, they will approach the match just like they have done in previous encounters.

“It is important for us to secure a victory because a win will put us in a vantage position and raise the fans’ confidence that we can still win the league title,” Fofanah said.

In today’s (Friday) showdown, Mighty Blackpool will host Diamond Stars in Freetown while Ports Authority visits Area Best in Makeni. Also today, Bo Rangers will entertain Central Parade in Bo city.

Sunday’s clash will see Kissy All Stars hosting Nepean Stars at the National Stadium in Freetown, while FC Kallon will travel to Makeni to face Wusum Stars.
