    The Boston Bruins have been crowned NHL champions, crushing the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in 39 years.

    The Bruins won in Vancouver, the first away victory in the seven-match series.

    Patrice Bergeron opened the scoring before goals from Brad Marchand, another from Bergeron, and a final-period clincher from Marchand.

    The Canucks had the NHL’s best regular-season record but have never emerged as Stanley Cup winners.

    Vancouver had led the series 2-1 and 3-2, but lost the final two games to allow the Bruins to secure the cup amid emotional scenes in Vancouver.
