Reho Falcon strengthened their lead at the top of the MTC Rugby Premier League with an emphatic 52-12 victory against Wanderers on Saturday.

Despite playing on their home ground, Wanderers were no match for Reho Falcon who led 28-7 at halftime and ran in eight tries in a scintillating display of running rugby.

Right wing Deon Mouton and centre Greg Stein each scored two tries while eighthman Shaun van Rooi, prop Morris Kapitako, replacement flyhalf Lariano van Wyk and flyhalf Howard Titus each scored one try. Titus added six conversions for a personal haul of 17 points.

The victory sees Falcons strengthen their lead at the top of the log, while it was Wanderers’ seventh straight defeat which sees them rooted to the bottom of the log. Their woes continued after they failed to muster enough players for their second team and had to forfeit their match against Falcons II.

United ran out comfortable 50-26 winners against Unam at the United field, after leading 24-14 at halftime.

They ran in seven tries while their lock Winmar Rust had a great day with the boot, converting six of them. He also scored a try and a penalty for a personal tally of 20 points.

Their other try scorers were scrumhalf Arthur Bouwer, who scored two tries, hooker Callie Swanepoel, centre Berto Miller, wing Guillaume Nel and eighthman Sybrand de Beer.

For Unam, wing Bradley Klazen and centre Mbimbo Mbai scored tries while Marque Bezuidenhout added three penalties and two conversions and Rodney Coetzee a drop goal.

In Narraville, Western Suburbs pulled off a hard fought 10-7 victory against the hosts, Kudus, while Rehoboth, who hosted Mariental, were also pushed all the way before winning 30-26.

Reho Falcon now comfortably lead the log on 36 points, followed by Rehoboth on 23 points.

United have moved up to third on 24 points, replacing Mariental who drop to fourth position on 23 points.

They are followed by Western Suburbs (16), Kudus (13), Unam (12) and Wanderers (2).
