Some 17 countries, 1,200 local companies and 56 government institutions have confirmed participation to the 35th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) scheduled to start along Kilwa road in the city late this month.
Launching a pre-fair seminar for exhibitors in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) Director of Planning and Research Samuel Mvingira said that the exhibitions would take place from June 28 to July 8 at Mwalimu JK Nyerere grounds.
He said the authority has prepared a special pavilion for the disabled to avail them with opportunities to promote their products.
“The Authority has decided to prepare places for the disabled to ensure that they fully participate in this fair because theirs is a special group which also needs to promote their products at national and international level”, he said.
Mr Mvingira said TanTrade decided to conduct a pre-seminar to exhibitors to provide them with different techniques which would help them in becoming successful in the trade fair.
During his presentation, the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) Principal Standards Officer, Mr Obadiah Msaki, called for the exhibitors to ensure their products were of high quality standards to winmarkets inside and outside the country.
“TBS is always there to give support to the traders so as to ensure their products meet the quality standard and access marketelsewhere… we want to ensure that Tanzanian products are recognized across East Africa,” he said.
He also said, in ensuring that the imported products were in quality standard, TBS with the support from the government were looking for a possible way of ensuring that the imported goods were inspected at their respective countries before they arrive in the country.
The Health and Environment Coordinator for Temeke Municipality, Mr Williamu Muhemu, called for the exhibitors to ensure the trade fair was in hygienic condition throughout the event to avoid communicable diseases.
He said stern measures including suspension from the fairs would be instituted against the exhibitors failing to observe the hygienic rules. The exhibitors were also educated on various topics including tax policy, how to prevent fire disaster and the criteria to be considered in the inspection of the pavilions.
DITF popularly known as Sabasaba is a major promotional event for Tanzanian products established itself over years and takes place annually at the Mwalimu J. K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds along Kilwa road.
