Panathinaikos forward Sidney Govou has decided that now is the right time to take on a new challenge, after only one season in Greece.

The former France international and Lyon star has been on the radar of Ligue 1 newcomers Evian-Thono-Gaillard, however it seems more likely that the player will move to the Premier League over a return to France after stating his desire to play in England.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Govou described his time in Greece and revealed his intentions for the future. He stated: “I don’t regret my season here. I have learnt a lot.”

“I want to leave as a free agent and Pana will not block my departure

.”

When asked about the approaches of the newly-promoted Ligue 1 side, he responded: “Evian-Thonon-Gaillard? We will have to study the project of the club and the project they have for me.”

“Money? At 32 years of age it is obvious that I will not be able to ask for much as I am earning at Pana, that would be impossible.”

The player then went on to make his desirable next stop clear, stating: “I have always wanted to play in the Premier League.”
