A local Chief in the Ga State has called on the government to step into the ongoing Chieftaincy impasse in the Ga Sate and resolve the matter before it degenerates.
The local Chief who spoke to Citi News on grounds of anonymity said the government should set up a committee of inquiry to determine the rightful person to occupy the Ga stool.
According to him, the current impasse could degenerate into a national issue if not resolved quickly by all stakeholders including government.
“When there is a problem in the country it is a Ghanaian problem. When the problem becomes very big and the problem cannot be resolved the government steps in. The Bawku problem was a chieftaincy problem before it became a security problem and the government stepped in.
“This is also a chieftaincy problem and if the Gas are not able to solve it the Government should come in with a committee of inquiry…If the government does not take sides and sets up a committee of inquiry to find out who is really the rightful person and all the parties are given the opportunity to say what they want to say we can have a solution to it”he noted.
Meanwhile, some elders of the Asere clan of the Ga State, the clan mandated to perform the final leg of rituals leading to the enstoolment of a Ga Mantse reportedly had a meeting on Tuesday June 14, over the impasse in the Ga State.
According to Citi News sources, the elders will hold a Press Conference on Wednesday June 15, to publicly declare the outcome of Tuesday’s meeting.
It has also emerged that the Dzasetse who is the acting as the Asere Mantse did not confer with the elders of the Asere clans before pronouncing Nii Tackie Adama Latse II as the new Ga Mantse.
