Kampala — By the end of this week, Uganda could have a sixth and/or seventh world boxing champion in history. Two of Uganda’s prize-money fighters, Kassim ‘The Dream’ Ouma and ‘Jackson Action’ Asiku enter the ring to vie for world titles.

On Friday, former IBF junior middleweight champion Ouma challenges WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan in Panama City. It is a fight boxing pundits have predicted to go Golovkin’s way but Ouma is keen on upsetting the odds. “It’s a shot at the title, you don’t need any other motivation and I am just ready,” Ouma told Daily Monitor yesterday.

The 32-year-old Ouma (27-7,17Kos) isn’t concerned by Golovkin’s record of 17 knockouts in 20 fights with no loss. “I will do what I need to do and I am going to win. Whatever he brings I will bring it right back to him.” And on Saturday night, Asiku has a golden chance to regain the lost glory when he dares Choi ‘Warrior’ Tseveenpurev’s for the World Boxing Union featherweight title.
