It’s been long since we got together as a family;
It feels today as yesterday in your humility and uprightness.
It’s been long since we knew you to be the same;
In your disposition and Love for shine.
It’s been you that was a loving Mum and grand-mother;
And forgive us if we have done or said anything to increase your pain Mom.
It’s been you that put up with chaotic or sometimes foolishness of our actions;
With boldness and firm character you stood to keep things in construction.
It’s been you that prayed for all and sundry; Treating all with respect and Listening with care to their telling stories.
It was you that will add wisdom of age and experience; with the treasure of inspiration to bring radiance. We will miss you Aunty Mary;
But we will also remember you in the words of John Wesley:
“My mother was the source from which I derived the guiding principles of my Life”
Also in the words of Joaquin Miller on Motherhood:
“The bravest battle that ever was fought Shall I tell you where and when?
On the maps of the world you will find it not:
It was fought by the Mothers of Men,
Not with cannon or battle shot,
With sword or nobler pen;
Not with eloquent word or thought
From the wonderful minds of men;
But deep in a walled-up woman’s heart;
A woman that would not yield;
But bravely and patiently bore her part;
Lo! There is the battlefield.”
And lastly in words you so cherish:
“Never say Fail”
Rest in perfect Peace Mam Ndahteh.
