Striker Ji Dong-won is hoping to prove as successful as some of his compatriots in the Premier League should he complete his proposed move to Sunderland.
Reports suggest a deal in the region of £800,000 is close to being agreed between the Wearsider club and Chunnam Dragons and Ji is already looking ahead to the future.
“I hope to survive in the English Premier League as long as I can play like Manchester United’s Park Ji-Sung and I also want to be the ace of the team like Lee Chung-Yong at Bolton,” he is quoted as saying by the Sunderland Echo.
The 20-year-old is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Black Cats and a spokesman for the Dragons effectively confirmed his exit.
“It is a great loss for us to lose him after having him only for one season and after spending many years to train him,” he said
“If he returns to the K-League, he must return to the Chunnam Dragons.”
Ji is poised to be one of a number of players set to be brought in by manager Steve Bruce, who has cash available following Jordan Henderson’s big-money move to Liverpool.
