COAST-based Kenya Premier League side Bandari have signed three more players, ending hunting mission for experienced players ahead of the Kenya Premier League (KPL) first leg matches.
Bandari have brought on board AFC Leopards’ Evans Wandera and Red Beret’s duo of striker Eric Ochieng and goal keeper Wycliffe Kasaya.
Bandari coach Rishad Shedu yesterday said the new players would supplement the other three signed last week as a stop gap measure, pending recruitment of more players. “I am in Nairobi ready to take off to Mombasa having finished all the logistics to have Wandera, Ochieng and Kasaya report immediately and play in the match between us and Congo United this weekend,” said Shedu yesterday.
Shedu said he had cleared with the KPL and they expect the players to report to the Seaside team tomorrow ahead of the face off with the Congo United.
The move comes barely a week after the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) sponsored team went back to their dust bin and recalled three players- Islam Mohammed, Philip Opiyo and Katana Ronald- dropped last season.
The three played a leading role in their 1-0 victory over Rangers. Shedu said they are still negotiating for four more players to fill the gaps in the goal and the defence. “The six players we have recruited so far are very experienced and their prowess in the game is well known. We therefore have no doubt they will assist us turn tables in the two matches ahead,” he said.
