Tchindjendje — The coordinator of the fact-finding parliamentary commission (CPI), Higino Carneiro has asked the citizens for greater accountability and be honest when presenting their concerns on the alleged cases of political intolerance.

The MP expressed the fact Tuesday in Tchindjendje district, central Huambo province, during a ceremony that marked the opening of the second phase of public enquiry into the alleged cases of political intolerance presented to the National Assembly by the opposition UNITA party’s parliamentary group.

According to the ruling MPLA party’s MP Higino Carneiro, the citizens are free to report their concerns in a three minutes time, and are allowed to speak in either languages, Portuguese or the local “Umbundo”.

“We want a public and open debate in which the enrolled 43 citizens can express in any language, but avoid repeating the same thing so that we can know whether or not the administrative and political officials of the Tchindjendje district are behind the cases of the political intolerance in the region”, he said.

After Tchindjendje, the fact finding parliamentary commission (CPI), will head in the afternoon of the same day for Longonjo district, 64km western off Huambo city, for the same purpose.

The CPI commission, led by the MP Higino Carneiro, integrates 15 parliament members of the ruling MPLA party, Unita, PRS and FNLA.
