Cesc Fabregas‘ desire to leave Arsenal and join Barcelona has been further confirmed by team-mate Bacary Sagna.

The Spain international, 24, has been linked with a return to his former side for the last three seasons.

Despite Arsenal’s known reluctance to sell their captain, Sagna admits he wants to leave – just a week after Barca defender Gerard Pique invited Fabregas to join him at Camp Nou.

Speaking to Radio RMC, Sagna said: “I can say it’s true that Cesc wants to go to Barca.

“Fabregas wants to return to his country of birth, to his city, where his family are. He wants to play for one of the best teams in the world, Barcelona, and that’s understandable.”

But the French defender reminded Barca it would be tough to land the skipper, adding: “At the moment, however, he is still Arsenal’s captain.”

Fabregas left Barcelona as a 16-year-old to join Arsenal in 2004 and on Monday Arsene Wenger denied his playmaker would be leaving for the Camp Nou club.
