FORMER Harambee Stars coach Mohammed “Gringo” Kheri has defended Coast region based Kenya Premier League (KPL) sides Congo United and Bandari’s coaches over the on-going reforms.

Kheri yesterday told off critics saying clubs had the right to hire and fire. He said coaches were acting within their mandates as they had the prerogative to sign and, or, drop players “if all was not well in the team.”

Kheri’s remarks come at a time when criticism has mounted over decisions by Congo’s Gilbert Selebwa and Bandari’s Rishad Shedu to drop and sign new players.”I, in fact, call on Selebwa and Shedu to move with speed, do what they have to do to ensure these teams get a minimum of 18 points if they are to avoid relegation,” Kheri added.

Kheri who is now the technical director of Mombasa Youth Soccer Academy said those opposed to the changes in the two teams had vested interests.
