The 2009 Kenya Premier League champions Sofapaka face their biggest task against Tunisia’s Club African at the Nyayo Stadium tomorrow in the African Confederation Cup third round return leg match. The Kenyans lost 0-3 in Tunis and will be seeking to overcome the deficit.

Sofapaka will be hoping to stage yet another gigantic performance like they did when overcoming Egyptians Ismailia 4-3 on aggregate after a 3-0 loss away and a 4-0 win in the first and return legs respectively in May.

Head coach Francis Kimanzi believes the feat is still possible especially with the return from injury by key players sidelined in the first leg encounter. “The return of goalkeeper George Opiyo is a big plus for us,” said Kimanzi. “We are looking better than we were in the first leg and have more depth in the squad. We will be looking for goals and we will be going all out in attack.” “We need to do better on Sunday since we are in a knock out competition and will seek to maximise on our home ground advantage to win this match,” added Kimanzi. “We promise to do better and are calling on all Kenyans to come and support us and we will not disappoint.”

His sentiments were echoed by club president Elly Kalekwa and team captain James Situma who said they were unlucky not to have scored on their Tunis trip.”It will be a tough match but anything is possible in football,” said Kalekwa adding that the club management has a surprise package for the players if they win the match convincingly to proceed.”They played 90 minutes while beating us and we have 90 minutes to do just the same,” Situma added.

Two-time KPL top scorer John Baraza said he is equally up to the task to provide the much needed goals upfront. Meanwhile the Tunisians are expected in the country this morning.
