A young Liberian is cautioning electorates to be very mindful of the political choices they make during the upcoming October elections.  Mr. P. Emmanuel Munyeneh warned that the country is at a critical cross-road and any decision made during elections should be based on “love for country” rather than an attempt to satisfy any individual or political party.

According to Mr. Munyeneh, this year’s elections will be all about development versus politics and that Liberians should choose the best options for their future. Mr. Munyeneh, who just returned from Sinoe and Rivercess Counties, said that he was very much impressed with the level of sporadic development that is been undertaken by the Ellen led government.

Mr. Munyeneh noted that with the construction and renovation of roads, citizens are beginning to have equity and access to markets, schools, clinic, banking institutions and other social and economic activities that are cardinal to the process of growth and advancement.

He then lauded President Johnson Sirleaf for her policy of “taking government to the people”. He said that over the years, people have felt unplugged from their governments due to the top to bottom approach that was practiced. He said by engaging the ordinary people through a deliberative democratic process, the President herself will get a feel of what is obtaining in all parts of the country. By listening to people express themselves openly creates a form of ownership by becoming a part of government.

He told a gathering on Police Academy Road that “It’s no longer about political parties or self interest; it is about the overall national development of the state”. He concluded by telling the gathering that “Your vote is your key; use it wisely to open doors to development and national unity”.
