Coyle is said to be keen on landing the 24-year-old Englishman, despite him scoring just four goals in all competitions last season.

However, the two teams will have to come to a compromise if the deal is to go ahead, with the St Andrew’s side holding out for a fee of £8m – £3m more than Bolton’s original offer.

Jerome is said to have told his current club that he wishes to move to the Reebok, as he believes he could learn a lot from former marksman Owen Coyle.

Jerome will certainly not be the only big name leaving St Andrew’s this summer, with Roger Johnson reportedly on the wishlists of many top-flight managers.

Where Johnson will go remains uncertain, but one thing is for sure, he won’t be at Birmingham come the beginning of the season according to his agent Paul Smith.

“I’ve had a call from Birmingham to declare that they would have to let him go. It’s just a matter of who he goes to I think,” Smith told The Daily Mirror.
