The Shama District Assembly has confirmed Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah as the District Chief Executive (DCE) at a special general meeting of the Assembly.

Some 24 members of the Assembly voted in favour of his nomination by the President. One member was absent at the voting on Friday.

Nana Kofi Dadzie, a member of the Council of State, urged the DCE to collaborate with the Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area to speed up development of the district.

Without such collaboration, he said, the work of the DCE would be difficult and the development of the district would be retarded.

Mr Gabriel Essilfie, MP for the area, assured the DCE of his support and promised to work closely with him in respect.

Mr Appiah said he would welcome suggestions from the Assembly and the people on how to confront problems facing the area.

He said he would ensure peace and stability to assist to realize the objectives of the Government’s Better Ghana Agenda in the area.

Mr Appiah said he intended to improve the quality of education, health and sanitation and make potable water accessible to the people.
