Saurimo — The consultant of Unicef’s international institute of education, Juliana Condo Benfica, is working since Wednesday, in Cacolo Municipality, about 141 kilometres off Saurimo City, to assess the degree of implementation of the national educational plan in that locality.
In fulfilment of her visit, the Unicef consultant has already met with education officials, parents and guardians in the mentioned locality, with whom she discussed, among other issues, the expansion and improvement of the protection of children, education in early childhood, good quality and free primary schooling for all children.
It was also analysed the learning needs of youths and adults, as well as their preparation for active life and the need to increase to 50 per cent, until 2020, the number of adults going through literacy lessons, especially women.
The official also discussed with the mentioned groups matters related to the elimination of gender disparities in primary and secondary education from 2005 to 2015, achieving equality in education between sexes and improving all quality aspects in education.
At the end of the meeting, the consultant assured that she will take to the appropriate organs all the concerns presented to her by teachers, parents and guardians, aiming for the search of solutions.
