Premier League newcomers Swansea City are keen on taking Tottenham youngster Steven Caulker on loan, although Bristol City have also shown an interest.
The 19-year old central defender, who is an England Under-21 international, spent last season on loan at Ashton Gate and impressed in his 30 appearances before a knee injury halted his progress in mid-March.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told Sky Sports: “Steven Caulker, yes, is a player Brendan Rodgers is interested in bringing in.
“We’re actually speaking to Tottenham about that, and we’ll hope to perhaps conclude something this week.”
Bristol City manager Keith Millen has also reportedly held talks with Tottenham about another loan deal for Caulker, but given that the deal would most likely be a season-long option, Spurs are almost certain to prefer the defender to gain experience in top-flight football.
That would, however, be subject to a guarantee from Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers that Caulker would see regular first-team football at the Liberty Stadium.
